Finish satellite manufacturing startup ReOrbit has raised a 45 million euro Series A round, led by Springvest. The company called it a milestone for Europe’s space and defense sector, and said the funding will accelerate manufacturing of sovereign satellites and connected systems.
New and existing investors including Varma, Elo, Icebreaker.vc, Expansion VC, 10x Founders, and Inventure VC also participated in the round.
ReOrbit develops software-defined satellite technology and takes a hardware-agnostic approach, procuring components from suppliers across the global market. The company is focused on sovereign systems so nations can have control over communications and intelligence capabilities. Its current product portfolio includes Silta, a secure satellite communications platform, and Ukko, an intelligence and surveillance system.
CEO and Founder Sethu Saveda Suvanam called it a milestone for ReOrbit and for Europe’s space and defense sector. The company reports increasing demand from Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
“This investment enables us to meet growing demand, ensuring that nations can operate critical space systems independently and with full control. In today’s geopolitical environment, reliance on external parties is a risk no country can accept. ReOrbit ensures they never have to,” Suvanam said.
ReOrbit was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. It previously raised a $7.4 million seed round in 2023.
Earlier this year ReOrbit expanded to the United Kingdom and also plans to open local satellite centres in several countries during the next 12 months.
The company says it has numerous contracts, which include a Geostationary Orbit (GEO) communications satellite for Malaysian energy and tech company Uzma Berhad and an MoU with India’s Ananth Technologies.
